GIVING FREELY IN 5D
by Mark A. Shryock
I am putting my books up on Substack, free for anyone to read. The first one going up is The Fifty Page Book That Can Help You Pass Nursing School, a survival guide I wrote for nursing students. This book is a bestseller or was until I pulled it and is used in the USA and internationally. It is for nursing students but will help anyone who is over-giving or works in a healing profession.
Here is why it is free, and why I am starting with this one.
Some people who care about me have said I should ask for a donation before giving so much away, that there needs to be a giving back. I understand why they say it, and I am grateful they are looking out for me. Here is the story behind why I am doing it this way, because maybe it will be useful to you too.
A while back I decided I could no longer in good conscience buy from Amazon, so I closed my account. Amazon was also where my own books were sold, so I pulled every one of them off and closed my author page too, because I was not willing to keep earning money through a company I believe treats people this way. Walking away cost me, and I knew it would.
That is when I found out what I had never been told at any checkout. I had been building an ebook library on Amazon for years. Books for children from kindergarten through twelfth grade, the classics, my astrology and spiritual library, probably ten thousand dollars worth in all. I had also bought audiobooks there. When I closed the account, all of it disappeared. Every ebook, every audiobook, gone.
When you buy a Kindle book, you are not buying the book. You are buying a license tied to your account, and if the account closes, everything you paid for goes with it. I had paid nearly the same price for those ebooks as I would have for paperbacks, and in the end I owned none of them. I share this partly so you know what happened, and partly so you can look at your own digital library with clear eyes.
That experience is a big part of why my books on Substack will be free. If I charged you to read them there, you still would not own anything. You would be paying for access to something that could be taken away, and I have felt what that feels like. I am not willing to do that to you. I will put each book up in full, starting with the nursing book, and the next one after that will be about how starseed children need a different kind of education, and how we educate the new children being born now who are carrying this higher light. I have several other books, and I will get them up as fast as I can. Some have suggested releasing a book a chapter at a time, to keep people coming back to the site. I do not think that makes it something people can actually use when they need it, so I will put each one up whole. I will not be attaching an ISBN to any of these, and I still hold the right to publish them in other forms in the future. When I am able to set up print on demand, anyone who wants a real book they can hold and keep will be able to buy one, and that book will belong to them forever. Until then, please just read and enjoy once they are up.
I have always promised that I would offer my books for free to anyone who wanted to read them, as a PDF, and I do not see Substack as all that different. We have talked before about building a website to house all of my books and my art together, but I am too busy right now to build one, so Substack is where they will live for now.
There is an older reason too. I have been homeless three times in my life. I know what it is to stand on a street corner with nowhere to go, and to slip into a building at night just to sleep somewhere safe. I also know what it is to be hungry to learn and to find the book or the knowledge you need sitting behind a paywall you cannot afford. I have not forgotten the person I was then, and I write for him as much as for anyone. Knowledge that can help people should be within their reach.
Now, some of you may worry that I am giving too much away, and I appreciate that concern more than you know. I promise you I have thought it through. When you read the nursing book, you will see how carefully I think about that very question. I benefit from this too, so no one should mistake me for a saint. The nursing book was a bestseller, carries a strong number of five star reviews, and has been used in multiple universities, both in the United States and internationally. It has a real, proven track record of helping nursing students pass. It was written to address the number one reason nursing students fail, which is overgiving to others and not enough to themselves, and it teaches practical life and study skills alongside that.
Offering it freely will let it reach students all over the world who could never have found it through a publisher. But it reaches further than nursing students. It speaks to empaths, people in care professions, and anyone who tends to overgive, pouring themselves out for others and forgetting to fill their own cup. There is real help in it for learning to give yourself more, not just others. It is not that I believe I am some gift to the author world. It is that there is a lot in these books, and I believe it matters for the time we are living through. Some readers will donate. Some will want hard copies one day. The book will help more people, and I will be supported in return. Everyone is blessed by it, including me, and that is exactly the point.
In 3D, the question underneath everything was how to give the least and get the most from someone else. In 5D, the question becomes what can I give that is my gift, for the greatest good of all, including myself. I ask that question all the time now, and this is where it has led me.
Before February 20, Tara and I were truly struggling. I am sixty seven, raising a fifteen year old, and still limited physically since my surgery. We were living on my Social Security, and by the third week of the month we were eating beans.
I am not a billionaire artist, and I never was. But there was a time when I galleried into every major art show up and down the East Coast. My paintings sold for thousands of dollars. Then COVID hit, and it slowed a lot of that down the way it did for everyone. But even after COVID lifted, it kept slowing. Slower and slower. Even then I would still sell pieces at the Bascom art gallery and other local galleries, but gradually things slowed to a trickle. People stopped coming to the talks we gave. We were told to stop, so we quit trying to sell. I still painted, I still created, but the effort to put it out into the world just stopped. Tara and I both heard and knew the universe was saying wait, that as 3D grew denser and denser, our vibration no longer matched it at all, but as people began to awaken it would again. We were told to wait, and that we would be told when to start.
My words and my art carry codes, fused into them by beings on the other side, by Source Creator itself, and 3D had grown too dense to receive them. That is why so many of you have written to tell me you felt extreme emotion reading something I wrote, or standing in front of one of my paintings. I have watched people at art shows walk up to a canvas, touch it, and start crying, more than once. That is not me. That is the light coming through what is channeled into the writing and the art. I say this with a disqualifier that matters to me. This does not make me special or higher than anyone else here. Every one of us carries this same ability for Source Creator to work through us. That is what 5D is. Alignment to abundance, available to anyone willing to walk into it.
Then February 20 came, the Saturn Neptune conjunction at zero degrees Aries, and Gaia reset into 5D. On February 28, one of my posts reached seven million readers, with thousands of shares and comments. Before that week I had around six thousand followers. Today there are thirty two thousand of you, with about three thousand more joining every month, and eight thousand five hundred subscribers on a Substack that did not even exist back then. Donations began to come in, and because of the generosity of people like you, Tara and I are being taken care of. I do not have words big enough for how grateful I am. This work continues because of you.
Please hear my heart on one thing. If you cannot afford to donate, please do not, and please never feel bad about it. That is not how a gift economy works, and it is not what I want. So many of you support this work by sharing it, commenting, and carrying it to people who need it, and I treasure every bit of that just as much.
I do not think that is coincidence. I was writing and painting the same way before February 20 that I am now. The work did not change. The world did. Before, I would post something and six or seven people would read it. After, seven million people read one long form article on Facebook in a matter of days. That is what a biosphere reset looks like when you can see it happen in real time.
Every morning now I wake up and I start hearing what I am supposed to write about almost before I have my coffee down. If I do not hear it at the kitchen table, I hear it out in the garden. I am told this is work time, not playtime. There will be a season to slow down, but it is not this one. This is what surrender actually looks like in 5D. It is not passive and it is not giving up control by planning less. It is giving up the attachment to how the outcome unfolds. Some days I think if all of this ended tomorrow, I would be fine. I would garden more and paint more and that would be enough. That is the letting go.
I do not tell you this story about myself alone. I believe this works for anyone who no longer matches the old 3D vibration and is willing to step fully into 5D. If you listen for your own guidance, trust it, and let it lead you, you will find your own abundance exchange, and I mean that to an extreme degree. But it asks something of you first. You have to stand in your integrity. You have to care as much about helping others as you care about helping yourself, and you have to be able to both give and receive. That exchange does not work one directional. I am not offering you a theory. I am living proof of what happens when you do it.
I am not telling you this story to ask for anything. I am telling it because I hear that I am meant to share it, so you can see with your own eyes how abundance moves now. When you give your gift freely for the good of all, including yourself, you are carried. And you can see the other side of it too. The extractive systems, the ones built on squeezing people, are collapsing everywhere you look. Look at Trump if you want to watch it happen in real time. The old 3D ways cannot hold themselves together in this new frequency.
For a long time I stopped posting my art. I had been speaking out about ICE and Gaza and the injustices that break my heart, and showing paintings while so many people were suffering felt like it made light of their pain. At one point I posted a photo of a canvas turned toward the wall and said I would not show my art until ICE was done. I have spoken out steadily ever since, and everyone knows where I stand. So now, from time to time, I let myself share my art again, and I hope it brings you some of the beauty this world still holds.
So the books will go up free, and the art will come along with them. Eventually there will be a webpage where my books and my art are offered together, with print on demand so anyone who wants a real book or a real print they can hold and keep will be able to buy one, and it will belong to them forever. I am especially grateful to the nursing students, caregivers, empaths, and retired nurses among you who told me what this book will mean to them. Until then I am doing exactly what I hear to do, and since February 20 it has taken care of Tara and me both. I will let you know the moment the nursing book is live. Thank you for walking this road with me.
Here is some of the five star reviews of this bestseller.
lilfetz22 called it “an invaluable resource for any nursing student’s academic and personal success.”
Ann Noriel wrote that any student in a college level program would benefit greatly from the author’s wisdom.
Jeannie Lloyd shared a note from Wayne L. Paul, a retired psychologist, who wrote about self-care in a world of takers and givers, warning that neglecting it comes at your own peril.
Alexander, Director of Education at a school with a nursing program, wrote “I cannot endorse this book enough.”
Bud E Wilson called it excellent, and said it should be read before starting or early into a nursing program.
Mark Walton, who was not a nursing student himself, said the book was “clearly written by someone who knows what he’s talking about.”
Ricia L. Maxie called it “A Treasure!” filled with practical tools for nursing students that any student can use.

Mark thanks for your excellent insights. Your comments on your Amazon book loss are echoed by my Husband exoeriencing the same through Amazon. He was devasted at the loss. Amazon didn’t want to know. C’est la vie! Kind regards to you and Tara.
